Formplex’s clients aren’t only private homeowners building or renovating their houses—many builders and DIY enthusiasts also turn to the family company.

The materials used are locally sourced and cutting-edge, made of uPVC, meaning they require no repainting or filling and are naturally resistant to mould, chipping or peeling.

They also offer insulation, a feature still uncommon in many Australian homes. But what appeals most to customers is the 50-year warranty along with a free at-home measurement and quote service.

“We’ve always wanted to focus on traditional, affordable exterior facades, helping our clients create the homes of their dreams and enjoy them for many years,” General Manager Silvana Costa explains.

“One of the most rewarding projects was for a retiree who renovated his home one wall at a time. We visited him five times and completed the house between 2021 and 2024. He used to tell us wonderful stories about his travels—he was truly a lovely man to work for.”

Costa was born in Melbourne to Sicilian parents. Her father served as president of the Francofonte Social Club of Melbourne for many years, and Costa herself was once crowned Miss Francofonte.

She has been part of the Formplex family for over four decades and still comes to work with the same passion.

“What I love most is talking to our customers and understanding how we can help them,” she says.

“I love seeing their happiness when they look at their homes once the work is done. We give people the chance to stay where they live, to improve their homes rather than move—offering older clients especially the peace of mind of never having to paint again.

“Their children grow up and don’t have time to take care of their parents’ or grandparents’ homes, so it makes me proud that we can do it for them.”

Costa’s roots also help her connect deeply with clients of Italian heritage.

“Italians are very proud of their homes, so we have great respect for the presentation of a house,” she says.

Formplex isn’t just a business, but an active member of the local community. The company has sponsored the Tooradin Football Club, the Devon Meadows Netball Club and the Portland Bowls Club over the years, and has donated to organisations such as Men’s Shed Tasmania.
