The book provides a concise and innovative history of Italian migration to Australia over the past 150 years.

It focuses on crucial aspects of the migratory experience, including work and socio-economic mobility, disorientation and reorientation.

Published by Palgrave MacMillan, the book challenges common assumptions about the Italo-Australian community.

Dr Francesco Ricatti is Cassamarca Senior Lecturer and coordinator of the Italian Studies program at Monash University.

He is passionate about oral history and creative approaches to history, and is one of the leading experts in the history of Italian migration to Australia.

Professor Penny Russel, from the University of Sydney, is renowned for her research in Australian 19th and 20th century history.

The launch will take place at the Italian Forum Cultural Centre, Norton Street, Leichhardt, at 6:45 pm.
