The home team had 58 per cent of the ball and created 14 chances to Sassuolo’s 13.
The away side opened the scoring in under seven minutes when Andrea Pinamonti sent Matias Vina’s through ball past the keeper and into the far post.
Pinamonti had his brace 17 minutes later with a wonderful volley rocketed into the bottom-left corner from just outside the box.
Frosinone were awarded a penalty right before halftime for a foul on Walid Cheddira, who then sent the keeper the wrong way to make it 2-1.
With 20 minutes remaining, Luca Mazzitelli equalised for Frosinone in glorious fashion. Matias Soule found Mazzitelli on the edge of the box from a corner before Mazzitelli hit the ball on the full volley through a sea of legs and into the back of the net.
Six minutes later saw Mazzitelli get a brace of his own after he got on the end of a blocked shot from his own earlier attempt to make it 3-2.
Pol Lirola sealed the points for Frosinone in added time when Cheddira’s square pass left him in front of an empty net.
Frosinone, who also hit the woodwork twice, have seven points from their opening four matches.
