Napoli Chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis on Monday travelled from Naples to Rome to work at his Filmauro offices on two fronts - closing an agreement for Frenchman Garcia’s dismissal and finding a replacement, according to the sources.
Garcia has a two-year contract, but the agreement features a clause that makes it possible for him to be fired with the payment of just one annual salary of about 2.8 million euros, the sources said.
De Laurentiis has reported called former Juventus, Inter, Chelsea, Tottenham and Italy boss Antonio Conte who, however, reiterated that he wants to take a year off and return to the bench in the closed season.
The chairman is reportedly in talks with former Udinese, Verona and Marseille coach Igor Tudor, who wants a contract for this season and next, not just until the end of the current campaign, the sources said.
Frosinone coach Eusebio Di Francesco and Nice boss Francesco Farioli are also possible targets. Garcia replaced Luciano Spalletti after the latter quit, having led Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years last season.
Spalletti is now the coach of Italy’s national team.
