The funds were distributed among several organisations: the Confraternity of Saint Sebastian the Martyr, the Confraternity of Saint Anthony the Great, the Confraternity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Madonna of Lavina Association and the Archconfraternity of St Michael the Archangel.

The leaders of the five confraternities expressed their gratitude in a letter addressed to President Angelo Stivala and the association’s members.

They highlighted how the contribution will support ongoing community activities, helping to preserve traditions and sustain their work inspired by the Gospel.

This act of generosity has its roots in a decision made in 1999, when Stivala—then, as now, president of the association—steered the group not only towards preserving Cerami’s traditions and passing them on to younger generations, but also towards providing tangible support to those in need.

Following the sale of a property, the committee has donated a total of $881,000 to various organisations and research centres over the years.

With this latest contribution, the association’s total donations have now reached $940,000.

The initiative reflects a strong tradition of solidarity and highlights the enduring connection between Cerami and the Italian-Australian community, shaped by a long history of migration and shared values.
