The hosts struck early and never looked back, with goals from Lorenzo Colombo, Morten Frendrup and Leo Østigard giving Genoa a deserved victory.

The match exploded into life inside the opening ten minutes. In the 7th minute, Colombo—on loan from AC Milan—got in behind the defence and fired home clinically after a slick pass by Ruslan Malinovskyi, sending the home crowd into raptures and putting Cagliari on the back foot early.

Genoa continued to push for a second throughout the first half, dictating tempo and closing down space quickly. Their pressure told in the 75th minute when Frendrup’s volley from outside the box deflected off the back of a Cagliari defender, doubling the lead and effectively taking the contest out of the visitor’s reach.

Just three minutes later, defender Østigard was unmarked from a set-piece and gently nodded the ball beyond the keeper to make it 3–0 and seal the emphatic win.

The victory lifts Genoa up to 15th and provides a significant confidence boost as they look to build momentum in the second half of the season.

For Cagliari, the defeat is a setback in their own survival bid, leaving them to regroup and search for consistency in the weeks ahead.
