Genoa are one of the few clubs who have spent more than they have made in sales. The club has spent 26.5 million euros so far this transfer window and made 10.8 million back from outgoing players.

The most notable signing is striker Mateo Retegui, who scored an impressive 30 goals in 48 matches for Argentinian side Tigre. They’ve also outright purchased last year’s crucial loanees in George Puscas, Radu Dragusin and Josep Martinez for a combined total of 12 million euros, which is good business.

Il Globo verdict: They’ll be very competitive and comfortably finish midtable. They should finish the highest of the newly promoted teams.

Prediction: 10th, or thereabouts.
