The 90-year-old star made the revelations after Mr Vespa questioned her on her thoughts about the recent wave of sexual harassment allegations against Hollywood film mogul Harvey Weinstein.

“I think they should have reported it a long time ago but they didn't have the courage,” she said.

 “But I didn’t have the courage either.”

The latter comment was unexpected and shocked viewers across the nation.

“When harassment isn’t harassment but something more, you can’t eliminate it - it stays inside and conditions your personality,” the beloved actor added.

 “Your actions are always subject to this memory.”

Ms Lollobrigida referred to two people, “one foreign and one Italian”, and said the first episode occurred when she was 19 years old and the second after she was married and had begun to work in film.
