Cagliari took the lead in the 22nd minute when Zito Luvumbo cleverly turned his defender and ran through on goal, hitting it with his left foot into the far post.

Bologna equalised in the 59th minute when Joshua Zirkzee beat Boris Radunovic at his near post.

The home side had the chance to go ahead in the 75th minute when they were awarded a penalty for a handball, but Riccardo Orsolini hit the crossbar.

Just as the game looked like it was heading for a draw, Giovanni Fabbian toe poked in a Radunovic drop in the 89th minute.
