Featuring 12 episodes, ‘Gomorrah 3’ is directed by Cristina Comencini and Claudio Cupellini and will be broadcast by Sky Atlantic.

Filming of the fifth episode is ongoing in the southern port city of Naples, which is at the centre of the series.

The television series has been sold in 160 countries and Sky executive producer Nils Hartmann confirmed in a press conference that screenwriters are already working on the fourth season.

The second season of ‘Gomorrah’ scored an average of almost two million viewers when it aired in May last year.

The hit series is a fictional adaption of Roberto Saviano's 2006 best-selling investigative book which documents Saviano’s infiltration and investigation of the Neapolitan criminal organisation known as Camorra.

The book also inspired the feature film by Matteo Garrone, which won the Cannes Film Festival Grand Prix in 2008.

Since 2006, when the book was published, Saviano has been threatened by several Neapolitan crime bosses, and lives under round-the-clock police protection.
