Govt crackdown on juvenile crime imminent after Caivano
The Meloni government is set to crack down on juvenile crime after several headline grabbing cases recently, including two cousins aged 10 and 12 were allegedly raped by a group of youths in the Camorra mafia ridden town of Caivano near Naples, and a 18-year-old woman was allegedly gang raped by youths in Palermo, sources said on Monday.

The government is reportedly tightening up its security package, and while it has not yet been decided whether it will be a decree or a bill, it could already go before cabinet as soon as Thursday, the sources said.
They said there will be new measures against juvenile crime after the events in Caivano.
They range from the possibility of ordering the expulsion from certain urban areas (DASPOs), to minors between 14 and 18 years of age, to verbal warnings from the police commissioner for the same age group, to a beefed-up strategy targeting the spread of firearms.
