Govt doesn’t have cash to keep promises, Schlein says
The government does not have the money it needs to keep its budgetary promises and more spending cuts will knock out the national health service completely, centre-left opposition Democratic Party (PD) leader Elly Schlein said on Tuesday.

“It is clear that in government they don’t have the money to deliver what they promised.
“For us it is crucial to put resources where they deliberately forgot to put them in the last budget, first and foremost in public health,” she said on the sidelines of a visit to Sant’Anna di Stazzema (Lucca), scene of Italy’s second worst Nazi World War II atrocity.
“Not putting resources into public health already means cutting services to citizens.
“We are already seeing waiting lists getting longer,” Schlein said.
