“It is clear that the international situation is difficult and will be so for the next few months, so we must keep out guard high,” he said at a police union event.

“We've seen what happened a few days ago in France (where an Islamist killed a teacher at Arras). There may be emulations, lone wolves, phenomena that are difficult to foresee and prevent.

“But our prevention system is very capable of combating the risks, and that is an element of reassurance.

“We have no elements of a concrete threat.”
