“Three years ago, I was a completely different person, I arrived as an outsider and it was my first time at the Olympics,” he said to a press conference at Casa Italia.

“Today, I arrive as an Olympic champion and this gives me self-esteem.

“I think that if I did it once I can do it again.”

“There is pressure – everybody, including myself, expects a lot.

“But I am using this as an incentive and not as a weight,” said the 29-year-old El Paso born 100m Olympic and European champ.

He added that he is feeling “positive vibes” in Paris.

Three years ago, Jacobs won a gold medal in a European record of 9.80sec.

He then won a second gold medal by helping Italy to victory in the 4x100m relay.
