According to a report released by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Australia is home to more than 314,000 students of Italian.

Learning Italian not only provides more study and employment opportunities, it also leads to a deeper understanding of Italy’s rich history and culture.

Many Australians study Italian as a way to return to their roots and connect with their heritage.

Last July, Il Globo launched ‘In classe con Il Globo’, a monthly page dedicated to teachers and students of Italian in Australia, showcasing their activities and achievements.

To mark the beginning of each term, we published a double-page spread, offering exercises and games for both primary and secondary students.

Having received an overwhelmingly positive response to this initiative, we’re excited to announce that ‘In classe con Il Globo’ will this year be expanded.

The segment will feature more content for Italian teachers and students, including: news on the latest developments in the field; articles and photos showcasing school and university initiatives; and information on competitions, scholarships, awards, conferences, and professional development opportunities for teachers.

Teachers and students are encouraged to send in their contributions and let us know what they’d like to read in the pages of ‘In classe con Il Globo’.

The insert will be distributed for free with the paper and access to the digital version will be available to schools who subscribe on Il Globo’s website.
