The case centres on the purchase of defender Kostas Manolas from AS Roma in the summer of 2019 and of striker Victor Osimhen from French club Lille in 2020.
The prosecutors also requested that the Naples club and De Laurentiis’s right-hand man, Andrea Chiavelli, also be indicted.
De Laurentiis’s lawyers, Fabio Fulgeri and Lorenzo Contrada, blasted the prosecutors’ requests and said no wrongdoing was committed.
“The decision to also proceed against SSC Napoli appears incomprehensible, considering that opinions drawn up by technical consultants and third-party entities (Assomine) are on file that incontrovertibly demonstrate that Napoli acted legitimately and in compliance with Italian accounting principles,” the lawyers said.
“We are extremely confident that the proceedings will be concluded positively,” they concluded.
