The township of Amatrice was one of the areas hit hardest by the quake, and the community has been left mourning the deaths of dozens, including the loss of seven-year-old twins Simone and Andrea Serafini.

The Italian community in Australia will have the opportunity this weekend to open their hearts and provide assistance to the victims of the earthquake who must now rise from the rubble of this tragedy.

On Saturday, October 8, RETE ITALIA will host a national Radiothon on all stations across Australia from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, to raise funds for the towns destroyed by the earthquake.

The Radiothon has been made possible through the cooperation of the Amatrice Earthquake Appeal, Italian Media Corporation and Co.As.It. Sydney, who are united with the purpose of providing financial aid to rebuild the towns and lives of those affected by the disaster.

Organisers of the Appeal urge all clubs, associations, businesses and the wider community to get involved, by collecting and donating funds, while donors’ names will then be announced during the Radiothon.

Donations are already being accepted. If you would like to donate immediately, please call Co.As.It on 1300 262 748 or fill out the donation form available in today’s editions of IL GLOBO and LA FIAMMA or here.

Every little bit counts, so let’s come together as a community and dig deep to help restore life and hope back into the township of Amatrice.

Donation forms to be sent to Co.As.It. Sydney – PO Box 342, Leichhardt, NSW 2040.

All donations will be deductible from taxable income a published in IL GLOBO and LA FIAMMA.
