The program provides financial support to plan and deliver celebrations of national cultures or national days of cultural significance to local communities across the Inner West.
Grants of up to $5000 are available annually for varied events which may include an official component, music, dancing and entertainment activities, recognition of community or individual achievements and culturally significant refreshments.
The Italian community has countless opportunities to celebrate – whether regional festivities, carnivals complete with colourful costumes, music (think folk and fisarmonica), food (a giant spaghettata?) or theatrical performance.
This could be your chance to reignite Italian culture amongst the wider community.
Council may provide eligible community organisations with subsidised fees if they would like to hire one of Council’s venues, including meeting rooms and Town Halls.
It’s the first time that Inner West Council has offered these grants.
The grants align with Inner West Council’s community vision statement, which says:
“We are Inner West, land of the Gadigal and Wangal peoples, whose rich cultures, heritage and history we acknowledge and respect.
“We are defined by our diversity of people, places and ideas.
“We are an inclusive, vibrant, caring and progressive community where everyone is welcome, people and nature live in harmony, and creativity is a way of life.”
Applications should aim to provide community benefits to residents of the Inner West Council area.
