The 35-year-old, who had been at Juve since 2015 and won five Serie A titles with the Turin giants, is set to sign a one-year contract and earn around €2.5 million a season, the sources said.

Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reported that both Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta and coach Simone Inzaghi have played pivotal roles in bringing the Colombian to Inter.

The move has come as something of a surprise to many fans given his regular physical clashes with Inter players during his time at Juve, which have not exactly endeared him to either Nerazzurri fans nor his new teammates.

Inter, meanwhile, have also broken off talks with Chelsea for an agreement that would keep Belgium forward Romelu Lukaku at the Serie A club and have started to look for alternatives on the transfer market, sources said Saturday.

There have been no talks between the player and the club for over a week, amid speculation linking him to Juventus, the sources said.

Lukaku was the driving force of Inter's 2020-21 Serie A title-winning campaign.

He moved to Chelsea after that season, but returned to Inter on loan last season.
