From the outset Inter controlled possession and territory, carving openings while Parma were largely pinned in their own half. Inter’s pressure paid off just before the break when Federico Dimarco turned home from close range after a clever one-two with Francesco Pio Esposito, giving the visitors the lead against the run of play.
Inter continued to dominate after the interval but were frustrated by a resolute Parma rearguard and some wasteful finishing. Petar Sucic squandered a great chance to put the game beyond doubt when he broke through on goal midway through the second half, blasting wide with only the keeper to beat.
Despite the miss, Inter eventually sealed the points in stoppage time. Marcus Thuram collected the ball in space, held off his marker and coolly finished past the Parma goalkeeper to make it 2–0, prompting jubilant celebrations from the travelling Nerazzurri fans.
For Parma, the result leaves them in 15th place with 18 points, still searching for consistency as they aim to climb out of the lower reaches of the table.
Inter, meanwhile, will head into their upcoming clash with Napoli buoyed by a disciplined, if not spectacular, road performance, now holding a four-point advantage over their closest rivals.
