“Frattesi’s move to Inter is done,” Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali said on Wednesday.
“We have just signed (the transfer contract).
After being pursued by his boyhood club since last summer, along with a host of suitors including AC Mila and Roma, Frattesi’s move to the Nerazzurri is a dream come true for the rising star.
The Beneamata are believed to have signed the midfielder on loan with an obligation to buy.
The deal was waiting on Croat Marcelo Brozovic’s transfer to Al-Nassr, which provided the Nerazzurri with fresh funds, and is believed to be costing the club somewhere in the region of €33 million.
“We’re happy. The negotiations weren’t easy because lots of clubs were interested,” Carnevali said.
“I think it ended in the best possible way with Inter, both for us and for the player, who had expressed a preference for Inter.”
According to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, Frattesi has already picked his squad number – Number 16.
Having spent an extended period in the youth squads of Lazio and Roma, Frattesi worked hard to establish himself at the Mapei Stadium, especially in the last two seasons, and has now cemented himself as one of the best emerging box-to-box midfielders in Serie A.
“Frattesi is a young Italian who has different characteristics to other midfielders,” Carnevali said.
“I’m convinced that they [Inter] have made an excellent buy. He’s a great talent”.
Frattesi has made six appearances and scored one goal for the Azzurri.
Despite losing him, the Giallorossi are entitled to 30 per cent of the transfer fee earned by the Neroverdi.
