Of the short film, Del Bufalo said:

"I immediately liked the fact that it centres on Christmas, because I’m someone who loves it so much, from the presents, to the decorations and the celebrations.

“Then I was captivated by the central theme of the story, which is about an expanding family, it’s important to talk about life, and the truth in these projects.”

Del Bufalo previously had the honour of dubbing Isabella, one of the 'magical' Madrigal sisters in the Oscar-winning film Encanto.

Now, audiences can hear the actress’s voice in Disney's Christmas animated short, The Gift, which has just debuted on the various social profiles of Mickey Mouse's parent company in 46 countries across Europe, North America, South America, Africa and Asia.

It is the concluding chapter of a trilogy: 'One Family, Infinite Emotions- Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel’.

Created in support of A Make-A-Wish, the first two chapters of the project were released in 2020 and 2021, and the series has garnered over 184 million views.

At the centre of The Gift’s plot is Ella, the youngest in a large family, who in the days leading up to Christmas feels a little neglected by her mother, who is pregnant again. Her older brother Max helps her get through this difficult moment, and eventually the new addition to the family brings harmony back to the house.

"The story touches on the discomfort that many children really experience in that situation, and it's important to talk about it. And I find it touching that it's the older brother who helps the little girl, because it's something that happened to me too,” added the singer and actress.

Diana del Bufalo, who is booked up until April in the theatre with the musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, has experienced a large increase in her child fan base after featuring in Encanto:

“I didn't expect it, now they see me as a Disney princess, they see me as Isabella, and they expect to see me dressed in lilac and covered in flowers. I really like the bond that has been created with them. I never usually like myself when I see the work I do, but I am really proud of Encanto,” she explained.
