One artist will be exhibiting at the Italian Institute of Culture (IIC), while the other two will have their photographs displayed on Bondi Beach.

The IIC has collaborated with the Head On Foundation for over a decade, supporting the festival.

The collaboration began back in 2012, with the exhibition of Riccardo Abate’s work, and the IIC has continued to support the presentation of Italian artists’ work every year.

Past artists include: Valentina Vannicola, Alessandro Penso, Andrea & Magda, Diana Bagnoli, Emanuele Amighetti, Monia Merlo, Camillo Pasquarelli, Fabio Burrelli and Annamaria Belloni.

In 2020, Lisa Sorgini, Vincenzo Amato, Mattia Panunzio and Ronnie Grammatica – all Italo-Australians – exhibited their work as a part of the 2020Vision project.

The Italian artists in 2021’s lineup are Santo Eduardo Di Miceli, Daniele Vita and Davide Bertuccio.

Di Miceli’s exhibition will be housed in the ICC premises in York Street, while Vita and Bertuccio will be hosted by the festival in the spaces set up on Bondi Beach.

Santo Eduardo Di Miceli was born in 1967, in Décines, France, to Italian parents, who migrated from San Cataldo, in the province of Caltanissetta, Sicily.

He began taking pictures in the early 1990s, while studying architecture at the University of Palermo.

One of the main recurrent themes in his photos is the relationship between the places where humanity and destiny collide in an increasingly aloof society.

Daniele Vita was born in Vetralla, in the province of Viterbo in 1975.

He began studying sociology and anthropology before devoting himself fully to his art, photographing the quotidian human moments of his subjects in everyday settings and juxtaposing them with serious social issues.

Davide Bertuccio, born in Messina, in 1991, is a photojournalist based in Milan, who graduated from the European Institute of Design in 2016.

His work explores a range of themes, including globalisation, the environment and the human condition.

Head On Photo Festival will run from November 19 to November 28, and exhibitions can be found at the IIC and Bondi Beach.

Di Miceli’s exhibition at the IIC will remain on display until the end of January, 2022.

The IIC requests that visitors respect the rules laid out by the Health authorities of New South Wales.
