The announcement was broadcast by the Consulate of Italy in Brisbane, in conjunction with the Embassy of Italy in Canberra.
It comes just a few days after news of the placement by Australian authorities to the appointment of the new Ambassador of Italy in Australia, Francesca Tardioli.
Consul General Salvatore Napolitano specified that the increase in appointment availability is in line with the continuation of measures already introduced and provided for by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, which are for the improvement of and better access to consular services.
The Consul General also highlighted that Italian institutions continue to pay constant attention to the needs of the Italian community in Queensland and the Northern Territory.
“At the end of May, we inaugurated the new offices of the Consulate with safer and more spacious and pleasant spaces for our users, and we have just finished a consular mission to Ingham, in North Queensland, in occasion of the Australian Italian Festival,” Napolitano said.
Napolitano is the Consul General of Italy for the Australian states of Queensland and the Northern Territory, an area which is 10 times larger than all of Italy.
Users are now able to book new appointments for citizenship, passports and visas through the “prenotaonline” service.
