This edition of the international competition will take place in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Italy’s entry for this year is Milan-born artist Alessandro Mahmoud, known by his stage name Mahmood.
The 26-year-old singer won the 2019 Sanremo Music Festival.
He also competed on Italy’s version of The X Factor and released his debut album earlier this year, which went straight to number one in Italy.
While Mahmood is undoubtedly talented, concerns have been raised over Italy’s chances at winning Eurovision after media reports said the singer has been suffering from a throat infection and fever.
Mahmood was forced to cancel his performance last Wednesday at the Alessandro Troiani Memorial in Ascoli due to the illness.
Italy is hoping that with enough rest, Mahmood will be able to pull off a successful performance.
Mahmood will be singing Soldi, meaning money in Italian, which is the song he won Sanremo with.
Featuring a line in Arabic, the song makes Mahmood the fourth ever artist to feature the language at Eurovision.
Currently, Italy is seventh favourite to win Eurovision according to bookmakers Betfair, with odds of 14/1.
