The statement followed a meeting earlier in the day of the national committee for public order and security, chaired by Minniti.

The committee decided that security standards needed to be raised in locations involved in the summit across the entire country.

During the meeting, national and local security guidelines were reviewed, while the need for maximum coordination among all security and intelligence services was emphasised.

Italy will welcome international leaders from across the globe for the event, including US President Donald Trump.
