Ilaria De Rosa, from the province of Treviso in northern Veneto, denied charges of drugs possession.
After she serves her sentence De Rosa will be deported.
The sentence was pronounced today by a single judge in the presence of the Italian consul general and her sister Laura.
An appeal can be lodged within 30 days of the sentence being handed down.
De Rosa is detained in a facility 40 minutes away from Jeddah.
She is a little tired, informed sources report, but her physical condition is good.
