The trio comprises Dany Avanzini, Mircha Mangiacotti and Roberto Fontana.

Gypsy Cats plays across a variety of musical genres, such as swing, traditional jazz and pop.

The musicians, who are all Italian, began busking in the streets of Brisbane in 2016.

They cemented their presence on the alternative music scene in Queensland through performances at City Hall, the Woodford Folk Festival and the Island Vibe Festival.

The trio has an ever-growing following of fans who adore the band’s captivating live performances.

Gypsy Cats performs regularly at major events and the most famous clubs in Brisbane, where the band members are known to swing-dance during their live performances.

The band is credited with renewing popular interest in swing music amongst the youth.

COVID-19 restrictions permitting, the trio will perform at the Brisbane Festival – a celebration of art and culture in the Queensland capital.

“We’re hoping that the lockdown doesn’t extend into September here in Queensland,” Mangiacotti said.

“We hope people will be able to experience the most anticipated festival of the year in peace.”
