Eva Valerio, 30, was holidaying with a Moroccan friend in a camper van in the lead-up to her death.
According to Italian news agency ANSA, Valerio’s friend alerted authorities about her disappearance after she had failed to return for two days.
Her body was discovered on the Boutalha beach the following morning.
Quoting the mayor of Thiene, Giovanni Casarotto, ANSA reported that local authorities are investigating the death of the Italian national.
Casarotto said an initial investigation indicated a natural death, most likely due to drowning.
Valerio was from Thiene, a city in the province of Vicenza, in northern Italy.
