The female cub was born healthy and weighed in at 3.2 kilograms, Italian daily La Repubblica reported on Thursday.
The zoo is leaving it up to the public to choose a name for the newborn: people can submit suggestions to its Facebook page between now and September 10, and the zoo will post the top three submissions on September 11, which will then go to a public vote.
The winner of the contest will receive a free ticket to the zoo, valid until December 31, 2020.
The cub will stay with her mother, seven-year-old Kala, for around two years, before being transferred to another zoo to start her own family.
Le Cornelle has celebrated the birth of three other black panther cubs in recent years: Leyla, born in 2017, and Moon and King, born in 2019.
