“A mix of emotions,” Quesada said when asked how he felt after the match in which Paolo Garbisi kicked two penalties that had put the hosts in front early on and Tommaso Menoncello touched down.

“Seeing the team fight like this against the best team that the All Blacks were able to field today reassures me.

“We tried to take advantage of the good line-out and counterattack possession, but, unfortunately, we didn’t succeed.

“It’s a shame.

“We’ve worked a lot this month and put many new elements into our strategic plan for the future.”
