“The complete Samp-T defence system provided in coordination with France can be usefully employed by Kiev after the necessary training of personnel,” Crosetto told lawmakers.
“It is not materiel that is used to attack but to defend against Russian attacks, and I am glad to be able to train people who will be able to defend Ukrainian cities, hospitals and infrastructure from hostile missile attacks.”
Earlier this month a group of around 20 Ukrainian soldiers completed training in Italy in using the Samp-T anti-missile system after Rome and Paris agreed to supply the system to Kyiv to help it defend its cities from Russian air attacks.
Crosetto has recently been in the headlines after allegedly having a bounty put on his head by Russian mercenary group, Wagner.
The alleged bounty came as a result of Crosetto blaming Russia for Italy’s migrant crisis.
