Twenty-six coffins were laid out in Salerno's Monumental Cemetery on Friday morning, watched by a military guard, local politicians, rescue workers and journalists.
A single white rose was placed on the lid of each coffin.
Just two of the women were identified: Marian Shaka and Osato Osaro.
Both women were pregnant, Ms Osaro with twins.
The bodies will be buried in different cemeteries around Salerno and the city’s mayor declared Friday a day of mourning.
Local schools have been asked to hold a minute of silence, while light displays in the city centre will be switched off on Friday evening in remembrance.
The bodies of the women, who were aged between 14 and 30, were retrieved from the sea on November 3 by a Spanish rescue ship, while some 64 people were unaccounted for and feared lost, bringing the death toll to around 90, said Flavio Di Giacomo, an IOM spokesman.
Nigeria has called for an international investigation into the incident.
