Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Marche, Tuscany, Sicily and the autonomous province of Bolzano will be designated white zones from Monday, joining the rest of the country.

The only curbs in white zones are social distancing and the wearing of masks indoors and in crowded outdoor places.

The easing of restrictions comes as Italy continues to record a drop in the COVID-19 contagion rate in most of its regions.

Italy’s coronavirus rate continues to be low compared to other countries, with a seven-day incidence rate of 16.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants as of Friday.

The Aosta Valley – which is still designated a “yellow zone” due to a higher contagion rate – is expected to become a white zone on Monday, June 28.
