Of the 10,064 Ukrainian children who have been received in Italian educational institutions, some 1930 are now in nursery schools, 4876 in primary schools, 2467 in middle schools, and 791 in high schools.
The latest UN figures show that at least four million people from Ukraine have fled their homes since Russia’s invasion on February 24.
In Italy alone, about 71,940 people have entered the country, of whom 37,082 are women, 6661 men and 28,197 minors.
Across Italy, there are dozens of initiatives to help the arriving refugees, including an online online form for residents in the Veneto region wishing to offer accomodation.
The country has also ensured Ukrainian refugees are provided access to COVID-19 vaccines and the healthcare system in general.
