The quality of ItSoWel’s services and infrastructure were evaluated in December by the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency, and the final report was received in January of this year.

ItSoWel was evaluated according to standards set by the governmental team.

This was the second review of the organisation, with the first carried out three years ago.

ItSoWel will continue to support the ageing community in the Illawarra region with appropriate services, and is capable of satisfying the cultural identity needs of our community with qualified and professional staff.

It’s an organisation which is distinguished not just by care but a very solid infrastructure which has developed over the years to sustain its services.

These services have continued to grow with the introduction of the Home Care Packages program in 2018.

The organisation itself has grown in the last 10 years, from a small staff cohort of five people to over 20 people working across different areas of service in home care, and community courses of Italian language and cultural formation.

The ItSoWel philosophy stands for:

  • The right of people to make informed choices and maintain independence in their own lives
  • The right of people to dignity, respect, privacy and confidentiality
  • The right of people to be valued as individuals
  • The right of people to access services on a non-discriminatory basis, and
  • The right of the community to receive accountable and responsive services.
