Albert Gudmundsson put the visitors ahead in the 14th minute when he blasted the ball into the back of the net from just outside the box. Despite being central, the sheer power of the shot was too much for Udinese goalkeeper Marco Silvestri, who had turned the ball over moments earlier, to handle.
Nine minutes the ball fell to Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca in the box after a poor clearance attempt. His ferocious volley made it 1-1.
Four minutes before the break saw Gudmundsson score another when his shot on an angle took a fortuitous deflection and looped over the keeper to make it 2-1.
It was heartbreak in the end for Genoa who were trying to hold on for all three points, but an added time own goal from Matturo Romero during a corner means they leave with one.
The point takes Udinese out of the relegation zone.
