Throughout the match, chances were at a premium. Milan arguably had the best opportunity in the second half when Rafael Leão sent his shot over the bar from close range—a glaring miss at a time when the Rossoneri looked most dangerous.
After conceding, Milan tried to up the tempo and dominate possession, but Lazio remained disciplined, compact and dangerous on the counter. The final quarter of an hour saw Milan push numbers forward, but the Biancocelesti defence held firm under pressure.
For Lazio, the win feels like redemption, as the Serie A loss to Milan earlier this week was wiped out by this cup victory.
For Milan, it’s a disappointing exit—despite dominating large spells, they couldn’t find the finishing touch when it mattered.
