The tie was an attritional affair in normal play but ultimately decided from the spot, with the Biancocelesti showing greater composure when it mattered most.
The match started competitively and Bologna struck first in the 30th minute through Santiago Castro, who headed in from a corner after a period of sustained pressure from the hosts. It was a deserved lead for the Rosso-Blu, who had looked sharper in the early exchanges.
Lazio responded almost immediately after the break. In the 48th minute, substitute Tijjani Noslin restored parity, getting on the end of a swift counterattack and finishing with composure to make it 1–1.

Despite chances at both ends in the second half, neither side could find a winner before full-time.
That meant the tie went to penalties. Lazio were clinical from the spot, converting all four of their attempts, while Bologna managed just one, with Riccardo Orsolini among those who missed.
For Lazio it’s a significant cup victory and a chance to compete for a domestic trophy after a mixed season, while Bologna’s defence of the Coppa Italia comes to an end in dramatic fashion.
