Lazio had an extraordinary 78 per cent of the ball and created 13 shots on goal to Sociedad’s six.

The opening goal came in under five minutes when Mario Gila smashed in a shot from close range after Sociedad failed to clear a free kick.

Sociedad’s Aihen Munoz received a second yellow card on the half hour mark for cynically trying to block the run of Gustav Isaksen.

Mattia Zaccagni doubled Lazio’s lead in the 32nd minute after he was found unmarked in the box with a nice cutback by Isaksen.

Valentin Castellanos made it 3-0 two minutes later with a solid header from a cross by Nuno Tavares.

Ander Barrenetxea scored a consolation goal for the visitors in the 82nd minute with a header into an empty net after Lazio keeper Christos Mandas redirected a cross straight into his path.

Lazio have already qualified for the last 16. They’ll play SC Braga, who need to win to make the playoffs, in the last match of the round.
