The club have done some good business this offseason, like giving Pedro a one-year contract extension.

They have some exciting new additions, like Argentine striker Taty Castellanos who was bought for 15 million euros. Castellanos scored four goals against Real Madrid in Girona’s 4-2 win against them last season. He netted a total of 13 for the season, not bad for a player in a midtable team.

They’ve also brought in Danish winger Gustav Isaksen from FC Midtjylland. Anyone who has been following the Danish club over the last few years knows they’ve been producing some very talented young players who enjoy attacking, possession-based football. He can score his fair share of goals, too.

Matteo Cancellieri has signed permanently after a decent loan spell, while Japanese midfielder Daichi Kamada has signed from Frankfurt on a free transfer.

Rumour also has it that Lazio are close to signing France captain Hugo Lloris from Tottenham, which is a huge addition.

The biggest departure has been that of Sergej Milinković-Savić, who went to Saudi club Al-Hilal for 40 million euros.

Il Globo verdict: They’ve done well in the transfer window and have an arguably even better squad than last season despite losing Milinković-Savić. With the traditional ‘big clubs’ not looking like world-beaters, Lazio are in with a shot here. Really.

Prediction: 1st-3rd and will get out of their Champions League group.
