The Atalanta loanee struck with seven minutes remaining, six minutes after coming on as a substitute, to extend the home team’s winless start to the Serie A season.

After eight matches in the league without a win Udinese looked on course to snap that streak when Florian Thauvin converted a penalty four minutes into the second half.

But Piccoli burst between Nehuen Perez and Christian Kabasele to sharply volley in a cross by fellow substitute Nicola Sansone.

Udinese have six points from nine games and are in early relegation danger while Lecce are mid-table despite slipping after a bright start that brought 11 points from their first five matches.
