Possession was roughly equal with Lecce creating nine chances to Salernitana’s eight.

The home side were ahead in under six minutes when Nikola Krstovic’s glancing header from a Valentin Gendrey cross found the back post.

Salernitana were always in the game, but Lecce sealed it with a penalty deep into added time awarded for handball.

Gabriel Strefezza stepped up to the spot and made no mistake, sending Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa the wrong way.

Lecce head into the international break fourth on the table, while Salernitana have only picked up two points so far.
