The Federation of Italian Chefs has hand-picked famous Sydney chefs to cook for you, while raising awareness and funds for Female Victims of Violence and the Breast Cancer Foundation.

Part of the proceeds will also go to the Domestic Violence Service Management, a registered charity which aims to prevent and to provide support for people escaping or experiencing Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) and homelessness.

Attending chefs include Tony Sabia, Salvatore D'Alterio, Sandro Isabella, Antonio Brunetti (sommelier), Paolo Gatto, Laura Nobile and more.

Speakers and guests include Olivia Sarah (Le Lacheur - General Manager – CommInsure); Sal Dennis (Domestic Violence Management NSW); Laura Nobile (FIC Australia); and Gina Ottaway (Nonna Gina, Master Chef Australia 2018).

Ottoway is a proud Italian mother and nonna, who was the oldest cook in the 2018 edition of MasterChef Australia.

Born in Benevento, north-east of Naples in Italy, she was the youngest of three children and was just a toddler when her family arrived in Australia in search of a better life.

After completing high school, Ottoway embarked in secretarial studies and later moved into retail management.

It was 15 years ago when she made her career change into the disability sector.

Away from work there has always been food.

In an interview with Popsugar, Ottoway described her secret to success.

“In my style of cooking, I usually have five to six ingredients at the maximum, and there's usually only five to six steps,” she said.

With this uncomplicated yet essential style of cooking, Ottoway wowed the 2018 MasterChef judges with her “simple yet beautiful” food, with her basic chicken snitzel being described as “the best [the judges] had in the world”.

Ottoway has always been driven to elevate her mum's amazing food.

She said her mother taught her the basics, and especially rich pasta dishes with delicious sauces.

Ottoway learnt the secrets of Italian cuisine from her mum, and now she will pass them on to you.

The event is supported by the Italian Chamber of Commerce, CommInsure, Domestic Violence Service Management, and Coogee Beach Club.
