The incident for which they have been convicted occurred against a 22-year-old American student.
Judge Roberto Crepaldi issued his ruling at the end of the trial by abridged procedure in which there are three other defendants.
The two players ended up under house arrest in January 2023 and were released the following June.
The public prosecutor’s investigation had alleged gang rape on the night of March 26-27, 2022.
Lucarelli took to social media to voice his disappointment.
“Given the media clamour surrounding the whole issue, we knew we were not fighting with facts but with a historical moment and the media pressure that wants our heads without really investigating deeply but stopping at sensational headlines to attract attention,” he posted to Instagram.
