Rio de Janeiro, August 22 - President of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), Giovanni Malagò lauded Italy's Olympians after they equalled London 2012's haul of 28 medals.
As the Rio Olympics concluded on Sunday, Italy came ninth in the medal table with eight gold, twelve silver and eight bronze medals in total.
"We did well, I'm happy," Malagò said.
"We could have got a few other medals, but I'm proud of being the president of CONI and of being Italian."
