Giovanni Ralli, star of many successful films, dramas and theatre productions, and winner of two David di Donatello awards, will receive a lifetime achievement award on the opening day of the Matera film festival, scheduled to take place in the City of the Sassi from October 1 to 8.
Ralli’s award was revealed in Matera during the announcement of the third edition of the festival's program.
The stacked line up features international film-makers such as Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, House of Cards star Robin Wright, and actors Violante Placido and Claudio Santamaria.
Throughout the week, 29 of the 400 works selected will be screened, competing in the feature, documentary and short film categories.
The Matera film festival, twinned with the Academie des Cesar in Cannes and the Accademia del cinema Italiano dei Premi David di Donatello, will award the best short films at the event ‘Le notti d'oro’.
There will be events dedicated to Pier Paolo Pasolini, Charlie Chaplin and Renato Carosone, concerts, debates, book presentations, and an exhibition in honour of the 60th anniversary of the 1968 Italian thriller Danger: Diabolik, featuring the original plates of the graphic novel based on the film.
