Meloni defends partner over recent remarks
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Thursday defended her partner, Andrea Giambruno, after he caused a stir by implying that women should avoid getting drunk if they want to avert rape.

She said that the father of their seven-year-old daughter and Mediaset anchorman had “only” said “keep your eyes peeled and head screwed on” to women who might unwittingly place themselves in dangerous situations.
Meloni acknowledged that he had said this “in a hasty and assertive” manner but insisted that his words had been misinterpreted, as he has also said.
