The team led by Italy’s first woman PM is now seeking to surpass Bettino Craxi’s first government (August 4, 1983, to August 1, 1986), Silvio Berlusconi’s fourth government (May 8, 2008, to November 16, 2011) and Berlusconi’s second executive, which lasted a record 1412 days from June 11, 2001, to April 23, 2005.
But Meloni has her sights firmly set on leading the only administration to last for the full five-year term of office, ending in October 2027.
If all goes as currently foreseen, Meloni is set to become the longest-serving Italian prime minister in history and will break Berlusconi’s record on September 4 next year.
