Giambruno, 42, has been a freelance journalist since 2014.
On Friday Meloni, 46, announced that she was separating from her partner and father of her 7-year-old daughter Ginevra after ten years.
The announcement came after Striscia la Notizia, broadcast by the Berlusconi family’s Mediaset network for which Giambruno also works, aired the secret recordings in which the journalist could be heard telling a woman that “you have to f**k to get into our working group” and referring to “threesomes and foursomes”.
He is also heard apparently admitting to an affair with another female colleague.
Giambruno subsequently suspended himself for a week from hosting his Retequattro show Diario del giorno (Daily Diary).
